Innis Dixon was born in Bradwell, Derbyshire, 19th August, 1880, and he enlisted on the 21st August 1914 at Auckland, New Zealand. He was employed as a carpenter, and had previously served for two years and nine months with the Duke of Edinburgh's Own Volunteer Rifles, Cape Town, South Africa, and three months on home service. He stated his next of kin as his wife, Esther Dixon, of 31, Newton Street, Auckland. Five feet four inches tall, he weighed nine stone nine pounds, had a fair complexion, blue eyes and light brown hair, and was an Anglican.
